House Warming Gift Inspiration
Wednesday, August 20, 2014
If somebody you know is moving home, you might want to help them settle in by buying them a nice gift. You can pretty much buy anything you like, but some things are more suited to the occasion than others. Here’s some inspiration for a great housewarming gift if you haven’t got any ideas:
A Yankee Candle
Yankee candles smell divine, so they make a great housewarming present. You can find a smell to suit any taste; clean cotton, baby powder, lake sunrise - you name it! People love these candles, and it isn’t hard to see why. If you want to make this gift extra special, you could also purchase a candle lamp accessory, which will make the candle look like a pretty glass lamp.
A Snuggly Throw
Who doesn’t love a nice, snuggly throw that you can just pull over you on the settee while watching your favourite program? This will definitely make a house feel more like a home! I’d suggest choosing a neutral colour to make sure that it goes with whatever decor they plan out in the end, unless you know their favourite colours.
A Bath Pillow
I recently invested in a bath pillow and it was the best thing I ever did. Of course you’ll need to make sure that the house has a bath first - people these days prefer showers [although I have no idea why]. Along with some lovely bath things and toiletries, you could give a comfy bath pillow to really help them relax.
An Engraved Wooden Plaque
This can add a lovely, personalised touch to the home, especially if you have the plaque engraved with names. If your friend has a family, you could have the names of the children and her partner included on the plaque. This is a very thoughtful idea that will look great in any decor. Wooden gifts always look great!
Bookends
If your friend and their family enjoys reading, then you could consider getting them a set of decorative bookends. These look great on a shelf in the living room or even in a home office.
A Quirky Figurine
Quirky figurines really make the decor of a house stand out. This can be tricky though; as your efforts may not be appreciated if it isn’t to their tastes. I would only recommend taking this route if you know your friend very well and you know they’ll love the figurine. Instead of a figurine, you could even buy them a lovely decorative pillow, with sequins for example. Use your imagination!
A Blender
You could always go the appliance route and buy your friend a blender for their house. Blenders are great for making green smoothies, fruit smoothies, and just about any concoction you can think of. Include a smoothie recipe book in their gift and they’ll love it!
I hope this post has given you plenty of ideas on house warming gifts. It’s always great to help make somebody settle in to a new home!
