5 Fantastic Ways To Create A Luxury Bedroom On A Budget
Tuesday, January 06, 2015
There is something wonderfully soothing about sleeping in a luxury space; that’s why most people get the best night’s sleep in hotels. However, there is no reason you can’t recreate that feeling of luxury at home in your bedroom.
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary – your private space where you can escape from life’s little dramas. It should be a place where you can relax and calm down after a hectic day at work.
To make your bedroom feel more luxurious without breaking the bank, there are lots of little things you can do:
1. Buy or make new curtains
You would be surprised by how much of a difference new curtains can make to a room – for the ultimate luxury feel, opt for floor-length drapes. As well as adding a touch of class to your bedroom, floor length curtains can make the room appear larger and taller.
Choose curtains made out of neutral coloured material, if possible opt for a thick, luxurious-looking fabric. To cut the costs, you could have a go at making your new drapes yourself, or enlist the help of a friend or family member to make them.
2. Invest in new bedding
If there is one thing that will make your bedroom look luxurious, it is a new bedding set.
Hotels tend to have beautiful white linen – there is something about it that adds a touch of class to a room. Instead of choosing a coloured or patterned design, choose a white or off-white high thread count set.

To make your bed look even more luxurious, add a duck down duvet, fluffy feather pillows and a comfortable mattress topper. 3. Add throw pillow to your bed
If you have chosen plain bedding, opt for some gorgeous throw pillows to add a five star feel to your room. If possible, choose oversized throw pillows in cotton or silk covers.
To save yourself money, why not create your own covers for your throw pillows? You can pick up pillow stuffing at a relatively small cost online, so all you would need to do would be to buy the material and get sewing.
4. Create a focal point
Use a large, oversized headboard to create a focal point in the room. Choose a large, padded design made in deep shades and tones, from soft, supple fabric.
If you have a creative flair and an eye for design, there is no reason you couldn’t create your own headboard. For tutorials have a look online at video sharing sites like YouTube and Vine.
5. Lighting
Overhead lighting is harsh and far too bright. If you can afford to invest and install a dimmer switch, this is an excellent way to add some sophistication to your bedroom.
Alternatively, to add some extra luxury to your bedroom, layer the lighting. Instead of using overhead lighting buy a few small lamps with different wattage bulbs in. Place the lamps around the room in different corners, this will help to change the light and tones within the room.
