We always want to make a good first impression. No more so than with our homes. Having great curb appeal can impress the neighbours, delight your friends, and win over potential buyers. ● Outdoor Lighting
Brighten up the front of your home by using outdoor lighting. Invest in nice looking lamps and you’ll add instant curb appeal. Especially when the sun goes down. You can buy solar powered lamps for the lawn if you want to save money. Alternatively, hang some wall lights up next to the front door. Go for the symmetrical look for extra brownie points.
●● Replace Anything Old
Look at the front of your house from the street. Do you see anything that looks old or outdated? It could be your mailbox, the door knocker. Perhaps even the numbers on your front door! Whatever it is, get rid of it. Replace with something newer and cleaner. You’d be surprised at what a difference it makes. If you like the rundown look, at least go for an antique brass that’s clean and well looked after.
●●● Spruce up the Windows
Your windows are the eyes of your house. They need to always be looking their very best. A quick fix is simply to give them a clean and a repaint. If you want to go one step further then consider custom window treatments instead. A pair of beautiful shutters will improve your curb appeal tenfold. They’re also good for energy saving. It’s a win all round.
●●●● Instant Garden
Not everyone has the time or money to landscape their front garden. Why not try creating an instant garden instead? Invest in some pretty containers, pots and hanging baskets. You can even buy those already planted. As long as you keep them watered, the outside of your home will look bright and colourful.
●●●●● Pretty Picket Fence
Nothing says beautiful home more than a pretty, little picket fence. They’re not too expensive to buy or make. Plus, they take barely any time at all to erect. If you already have a fence, then consider giving it a new lease of life. It could new repainting or varnishing, to bring it back from the dead.
●●●●●● Replace Gutters and Downspouts
The older the gutter system, the worse it’s going to look. Not only that, but it’s probably not very effective anymore. You can invest in some pretty amazing looking gutters and downspouts for the front of your home. Who knew that guttering could be so beautiful?
●●●●●●●● A Lick of Paint
Sometimes, all your home needs is a lick of paint. It can make such a huge difference to repaint the exterior of your home. We spend so much time focusing on the interior, we can sometimes forget that outside needs painting too. Make sure you have a big enough ladder and someone to give you a hand.
Super quick fixes for those without a lot of time! Dedicate a couple of hours each weekend for one of these tasks and your home will be the best on the block.
