Your New Bed: How to Get it Right
Wednesday, June 03, 2015
We all spend roughly a third of our lifetimes asleep, that means
we spend a lot of time in bed. So, if you haven’t upgraded your bed for a while,
here’s what you need to think about before buying your new one.
● Size
There’s a lot to take into consideration when choosing which
size bed is right for you. First of all, you need to think about the comfort
that the bed will offer you. You don’t want to feel cramped in the bed. Your
size and height, as well as that of your partner, should be taken into
consideration as it will affect the amount of space you’ll need.
The size of your room is important too though. Measure your bedroom carefully and think about how much floor space
you’re prepared to sacrifice. Your main choices for a double bed, from smallest
to largest, are Double, Queen, King and Super King size.
●● Headboard
A lot of ordinary bedsteads will have a built-in headboard so
you might not have to worry about getting a separate one. If you want the easy
option, you should definitely seek out a bed that comes with a headboard. It
takes a little of the hard work out of the task.
There are lots of benefits of buying a
divan or any other kind of be without a headboard though. For a start, it
allows you to personalise the bed, choosing the headboard you want give you more
creative control over how the bed looks. Most of them just slot in place too, so
you should be able to do it by yourself.
●●● Mattress
The most important part of any bed is the mattress; that’s why
it’s so important to get the one that’s right for you. How the bed feels when
you lie on it and how comfortable you are at night is predominantly decided by
your mattress. There are lots of different types of mattress to choose from.
The most conventional kind is the pocket sprung mattress, most
of us have slept on one of these before, so you’ll know what you’re getting. But
memory foam mattresses are now becoming very popular for
variance reasons. They mould to the shape of your body giving you the maximum
amount of support possible.
●●●● Sheets and
Covers
The bed
sheets and covers you choose for your bed should be functional, but they
mainly matter because they dictate how the bed looks. You should pick out
designs that fit in with the overall theme of your bedroom, you don’t want to
have a bed that looks at odds with the rest of the room’s design.
Besides the design, you also need to think about what material
you want. Cotton sheets are known for their comfort and softness, especially if
you choose Egyptian cotton. Poly-blend sheets are another option, These don’t
wrinkle very easily and are a lot easier to maintain. You might want to choose
different sheets for different seasons too, you don’t want to be too hot in
summer or too cold in winter.
Getting your bed right is vital, you can only get a great
night’s sleep if you have a great bed to sleep on!
