New Job In A New City? This Is How I Might Take On A Big Move

If you’re about to take on a new job in another city, you may be considering packing everything up and moving there rather than commuting. It is a lot to take on. Often, employers can help subsidize any moving costs. But they’re not likely to cover your commute charges. So are you ready to head to a new home?
Moving house is a huge headache at the best of times. But when you’re under pressure to move quickly and start a whole new job, you may find it quite stressful. If you own your current home, you may have to sell for a lower price than you would like to make it happen quickly. Have you thought about renting out your current house? If you intend to come back one day, this could be the best option for you.
Renting your house out can be done quickly and easily, especially if you hire an agent to manage it for you. It frees you up to leave for your new job without having to worry about looking after the old one. You’ll also have the benefit of earning rental income to cover the mortgage. Your new employer may be able to offer you access to their furnished apartment rentals. This is usually the case if your role is within the military or a contractor company.
The best thing about taking on a furnished place is that you only need to pack up a couple of suitcases rather than all your furniture and belongings. You might prefer to rent out your place empty. You could use a storage facility for all your things, and even hire a professional cleaner and decorator to get it ready for the new tenants. This takes all the hassle out of your move, leaving you relaxed and focused on starting your new job.

Of course, you can still personalize your new rented accommodation. Pack up a box or two of your favorite knick-knacks, or treat yourself to some new bits and pieces when you get there. Many landlords are happy for you to redecorate if you ask first. You can change the decor quite easily with some rugs, sofa throws, and cushions. Add some wall art and a new set of curtains and the place will feel like home in no time.
If you are choosing to pack everything up and take it with you, you can still minimize the amount of effort you have to put in. Many moving companies offer and all-inclusive service for you. They will pack for you, carry the boxes, drive the van and unpack for you as part of their charges. It means you can focus on the other things you need to worry about. This is especially helpful if you are moving with children and pets. It frees you up to make sure they are comfortable and happy during the move.
Moving house can be a huge upheaval for everybody. If you’re moving because you are about to start a new job, then life is stressful enough! Try these ideas to see if life can be a little simpler for your big move. Good luck in your new home.
