Here Are My Tips For Preparing to Sell Your Home
Friday, August 07, 2015
Selling your home is one of the most stressful and chaotic things you can so. I went through the process myself, so I know how tough it is. These are some of the tips I used to make the experience easier.
Check Out the Market
Have a look at the state of the market when you think about selling. The property market can be very mercurial and is constantly rising and falling. When I made the decision to sell, it’s a good job I checked out the market first. It was the wrong time to be a seller, and I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near the value I wanted. So because I knew this I chose to wait until the market went up again. Make sure you take note of the housing market situation before making a decision.
Do any Renovations
If you want to sell your home, you need to get the best price possible. And the way to do this is to do any home renovations that need doing. These might be repairs that are essential in the surveying process. Or you might just like to do some work that will add value to the home. You can choose to add an extension and/or renovate the kitchen. And these proved excellent ways to add value. So, if you’ve decided you’d like to sell at some point in the future, you should plan the work. It’s important to get these renovations done well in advance.
Value Your Home
A huge part of the selling process is making sure you get a valuation on your home. I did this and it helped me a lot. I found my original valuation lower than expected because of the market at the time. So because I knew this I could make a decision to wait until it went back up. As such, I managed to get a much better valuation on the home when I finally did sell. If the property you’re selling is somewhere in England, you can contact for example, Brinkley's Estate Agents to get a valuation on your home. It’s important that you make sure you’re properly informed. Then you can think about things and make a sensible decision like I did.
Start Looking for a New Home
As soon as you give any thought to selling your current home you need to start looking for a new place. I would advise doing this as soon as possible because otherwise you might miss some great options. The housing market can be highly competitive, and many other people will be looking to buy. So you need to make sure you do this ASAP. I go online and find several sites with property listings. Then I like to bookmark them and go through them with friends and family.
Plan for the Move
So, now you’re at the stage where you need to start planning your move. I like to try to do this part as early as possible in the process. The moving itself can be the most chaotic part, so you want to ensure it’s well taken care of. You need to figure out when you’re going to move - during the week is preferable as it’s less busy. You also need to figure out how to pack up all your possessions ready for the move. Once you’ve done that you need to make arrangements for transporting all your stuff as well.
I know that selling your home can be stressful because I’ve had to do it before. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change that. But if you follow these tips you can at least make it a little less stressful. Make sure you plan and prepare in advance and it will make things much simpler.
