Why We Are Making the Bold Decision to Build the Property We’ve Always Dreamed Of

Friday, September 25, 2015

There’s this one point in my life when I’ve decided that me and my family are going to move – from renting to owning a home. And, when this happens there are a lot of decisions we must make. Instead of going down the usual route of buying a new place, I’ve chosen to build one and below are the reasons to tell you why.

It Is Cheaper Than Making All the Changes We Want

When we assessed the old place, we had a lot of changes that we wanted to make. Many of these were large projects that would have required a lot of work. For instance, we were considering choosing between a conservatory and an orangery for the home. It turned out that it was going to be very expensive for us to make the changes we wanted. And when looking into it we noticed that it was cheaper to actually build our own place and incorporate what we wanted!

A Fresh Start

We [my mom mostly] got to a point in our lives when we were feeling a little low. We became disillusioned with where we were living and what we were doing. We decided that we needed a change of scenery and a fresh start to go with it. So we assured ourselves that one day, we were going to move.

Unfortunately, the housing market is so up in the air that we conclude that the best thing to do is do it on our own. We’ve made the decision to build our own home so I and my loved ones can move on our terms.

Sense of Accomplishment

Often people feel like they’re lacking something in their lives. And, I don’t feel as though I’ve accomplished anything. However, because I am personally working really hard on this project I can now say with a confident smile that I am an achiever, one step at a time. One day, we’ll build that dream house for us, and not many people can boast that! The sense of accomplishment from this has given me a newfound confidence and belief in myself. I now feel like I can accomplish anything with the help of my family.

It Allowed Us to Micromanage

One of the best parts about our decision to build our own property is that we get to micromanage. This doesn’t mean that we’ll interfere and stuck our oar in at inopportune times. No! we’ll definitely hire a new home builder precisely so they can take charge of the build for us. We’ll simply make sure we are able to micromanage in the sense that we get to decide exactly what we want, and where we want it. All the designs will be agreed beforehand. It’s all about making it clear down to the last detail. And I’m so looking forward to fulfilling our dream!

Take it from me; building your own property is no mean feat. In fact, it’s one of the most challenging things we are about to face. We can do this!
