The Different Types of Conservatory to Consider

Friday, October 30, 2015

Conservatories make great additions to your home. They give you more space and allow a lot more light to enter your home. They can also add a lot of value to your property in the long-term. But there are so many types out there, so it can be hard to know which one is best for you. Here are the options explained.

Garden Room

Garden rooms are becoming more and more popular. Some people even think that they’re starting to replace the more conventional types of conservatory out there. And, although that might not be completely accurate, you can see why so many people are turning to garden rooms instead of other types of conservatory. They are very simple and uncomplicated. They have a roof that simply leans onto the property. Other types of garden rooms are glass structures with a flat roof that is not made from glass. These types of garden rooms are very slick and modern.

Lean To

The great thing about lean to conservatories is the fact that they’re so simple and easy to install. They have a basic glass frame and a roof that slopes down from the main property, hence the name. This helps the conservatory to feel like an extension to the home. For people on a budget, these are a great solution. They’re very cheap and don’t take long to install. If you want to save even more money, you could install a DIY lean to conservatory, and do the work yourself.

Orangeries

Orangeries tend to use more brickwork than most other types of conservatory. Most of the types of conservatory discussed here use mostly glass panels to allow in light. But orangeries tend to be a bit more complicated because they use four brick pillars, one in each corner of the conservatory. It then has windows around the perimeter with a solid glass roof. They get their name because they used to be used by aristocrats to grow exotic fruits in, though they don’t tend to be used for that purpose much anymore.

Gable

Gable conservatories have rectangular floor plans, and their roofs are triangular at the front. They’re very simple designs, and they help to maximise the internal space. Because the roof uses simple panels that come to a peak in the centre, they let in lots of natural light. And, for a lot of people, that’s exactly what is wanted from a new conservatory. They’re very good for people who don’t have much garden space to extend outwards into.

Victorian

Victorian style conservatories are definitely the most popular type of conservatory out there. They are identified by their curved appearance and pitched roof. This allows them to make the most of a small amount of space, and that’s one of the reasons they’re still so popular with homeowners choosing a conservatory. It’s a simple yet classic design, and that appeals to a lot of people who don’t want to take any major risks when it comes to design and appearance. It also gives a pretty elegant appearance.
