Affordable Ways to Turn Your Bathroom into a Luxury Spa
Thursday, March 09, 2017
Pamper and spa days are the perfect antidote to the stresses and
strains of daily life. They provide a relaxing and soothing environment to ease
away aches, pains, and worrisome thoughts. But it’s not always practical to book
a session at your local health club. Wouldn’t it be great if you could bring the
spa to you. Well, now you can with these simple bathroom adjustments.
Beginnings
If you intend to transform your bathroom, start with the basics.
Take everything out, apart from the fixed furnishings. Empty cupboards, drawers,
and other storage units. Clear shelves and medicine cabinets. Remove and wash
curtains. Then give the whole room a thorough and deep clean. Pay special
attention to seals around the sink, bath, and shower. Remove any mildew and
scrub away limescale. Clean shower screens and make sure every inch of the room
sparkles. Don’t forget doors and skirting boards.
Decide whether you’re going to enlist the help of a bathroom designer. Or whether you intend to tackle the project
yourself. Replace or fix any broken furniture. For example, it’s quick and easy
to replace cracked bath panels, and the difference is remarkable. If you’re
remodeling, keep relaxation in mind. The intention is to create a comfortable
space as well as a functional one.
Spruce Up The Paintwork
If your decor could use a bit of TLC, consider giving the area a
lick of paint. Opt for paint and wallpaper that works in a damp environment to
avoid you having to repeat the process within a short period. When looking at
color samples, opt for calm, soothing tones.
Storage
Bathrooms are often limited on space and so storage is
important. If you’re working with a very small area, don’t waste any of the
available space. For example, utilize the space under the sink with a vanity
unit. Consider shelving above the door. Streamlined units are ideal for towels
and other bathroom sundries.
Once you have finished the cleaning process, you can begin
putting everything back but sort through items first. Make sure everything is
put away and avoid cluttering shelves. Pour bath products into glass bottles and
containers. Get rid of old plastic tubes and pots. Glass bottles and jars say
luxury and your supermarket bubble bath does not. Baskets are also useful for
things like soap, sponges, etc.
Dimmers
Install dimmer switches to provide you with complete control
over lighting. When you’re applying makeup in the morning, adequate lighting is
important. But in the evening as you settle into a long, hot bath, you’ll want
ambient light. Candles will help to achieve this and add to the calming mood.
Textiles
One of the best things about spas is the fluffy towels, robes,
and textiles. Make sure you replicate this experience. Toss out your dingy
slippers and invest in some new ones. Find luxury towels and a robe made from a
high cotton count. Shop at outlet stores to save money.
Beauty Products
You needn’t spend a fortune on fancy products. You can find many
supermarket branded products that are just as good. Decant them into glass
bottles, jars, and containers to provide them with a luxury feel.
Finishing Touches
And to complete your home spa, add a few finishing touches like
freshly cut flowers. You don’t usually find flowers in the bathroom, so this
addition adds a little decadence.
