Could Your Home Be Earning You Some Extra Money on the Side?
Sunday, May 14, 2017
We all feel like we could do with a bit of extra money to make
life that little bit more comfortable than it currently is. But how can you get
your hands on that cash? Well, it is possible; you just need to think carefully
and make the most of your home. THis is the biggest and most expensive asset
most people have, so why not make the most of it? Here are some great ideas to
help you earn more money with the help of your home.
Rent Out a Spare Room
It might seem a little strange and daunting to let a stranger
into your home. But by taking on a lodger and renting your spare room to them, you can make a lot
of money. And there are numerous ways to go about doing this. For a start, you
could think about renting out the room on a permanent basis. You would then be
the the lodger’s live-in landlord. Or you could rent out a room via a platform
such as Airbnb. This allows you to rent to different people for short amounts of
time. It’s up to you which route you take.
Charge People to Park on Your Land
If you have plenty of space on your land, you could charge
people to park on it. This is something that is perfect for people who live
close to a commuter station, a city centre or a sports stadium. In other words,
in any place where low-cost parking spaces are in short supply, you can make
some money if you take the right approach. You could even invest in a pre-engineered metal
building and use that as a parking area if you have the space to make it
happen. It will at least allow you to bring in a small sum of extra cash each
month, so there is no reason not to try it.
Give People the Use of Your Garage for a Price
You could also let people use your garage if you are not using
it. This could be used as a parking space, but there might be better ways to
make use of your garage space when renting it out. Many people need to make use
of storage space. Maybe they’ve moved to a smaller home and they don’t have a
place to put all of their possessions. If you rent out your garage to someone in
that situation, you could make a lot of money. Garages tend to have plenty of room for storage, and you can
probably offer a better rate than some of the big storage companies too.
Turn Your House Into a Set
Finally, you could rent your home out to people who want to film in it. You could
still live in the property during the filming, but you would earn plenty of
money from it. Of course, you have to be willing to allow a lot of strangers
into your home, and it can be quite intrusive. But filming sets are always in
demand, so it could be a good option to consider.
